Tin cans and music?

International Music Day is celebrated annually on 21 June, in over 250 cities around the world. In Sydney, the 2014 event took place with over 150 performers from solo artists to big bands in 10 locations entertaining people throughout the day from Bondi to Darling Harbour, the Rocks to Manly, and even on the Manly Ferry.

Perennial Packaging had the privilege to support the celebration of music by supplying tin cans used for donation collections by The Australian Children’s Music Foundation.

The Australian Children’s Music Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation which was established 12 years ago with the mission to raise funds for music teachers and instruments for disadvantaged and Indigenous youth around Australia.  It was founded by a well-known children’s entertainer and songwriter, Don Spencer OAM, who was disturbed by the fact that over 75{7e09fb00936724291224e02c5f7e63212c294206f4a919d556880dbe2090d5d8} of public schools in Australia no longer had a specialist music teacher.

ACMF have programs running weekly nationwide in many primary schools, high schools and in every juvenile detention centre.  They are committed to giving access to music education for children who would never have the opportunity.  And never start a program until funding is obtained for at least 12 months, with many of their programs have been operating since conception.
